stands on important issues.
I am a committed conservative with a lifetime of service to causes greater than self.
As your State Representative, I will give voice to your values.
Life
I believe in the sanctity of life, from conception to natural death. As long as Roe V. Wade is the law of the land, I will promote adoption as an alternative to abortion. My pro-life convictions are steeped in my faith, and the belief that we are all born in the image and likeness of God. I believe in respecting the dignity of life for all people – from the unborn to people with mental and physical disabilities and the frail and elderly. I will be a leader in developing a framework for helping the least fortunate among us, consistent with conservative values, as I have done all my life as a community leader and active volunteer.
Education
Education is the means to a better future for all children, regardless of their background and family means. I believe in conservative reforms to education, including school choice. For many families, the local brick-and-mortar public school is their school of choice. But not every child fits into the same box. When we give parents a choice, we give children a chance. I support alternative public options, such as charter schools, online learning academies, and private and parochial schools. Let’s give parents options so children can succeed.
Law and Order
Families have a basic right to feel safe in their communities. Today, an open border means weapons, and drugs and people are being smuggled into our neighborhoods illegally. Women and young children are being abused and exploited through sex trafficking. It is happening right here in our area. I will work every day to put a stop to it, and put traffickers who harm our children behind bars.
Local Control
My husband, Rene, serves on a local city council. I don’t believe Austin should usurp local control anymore than Washington should interfere with state sovereignty. As a true conservative, I know government closest to the people governs best. If local property taxes or ordinances are too oppressive, voters should take action at the ballot box because local voters deciding their representation is the ultimate form of local control.
Limited Government
We need to control the size of government, keeping taxes and spending low. I believe in zero-based budgeting, where agencies have to justify every dime they spend, and not just new expenditures. Let’s keep government lean, efficient and effective.
